Happy New Year to everyone! We had our first meeting of 2012 on January 3rd, and we’re all chomping at the
bit to get out and do some riding. Now all we need is some snow. Fortunately for us, there seems to be decent
ice coverage on Norway Lake, which is already dotted with ice fishing houses. This is good news, since our
annual Snowfest (“always the last weekend in January”) is only two weeks away, and we’re counting on
Mother Nature to provide sufficient ice and some snow to make our event a success this year. To date for
2012, as you all know, we’ve had very little snow, and the 6 inches or so that fell a few days ago is already
disappearing in the wake of the freezing rain and sleet that followed.

Details about the Snowfest, schedules, etc., can be found on our website. It will take place on Norway Lake
on Saturday, January 28th, and Sunday, January 29th in the cove by the Little Red School House. Parking is
available at the public boat launch area just up from the School House off the Lake Road. Racing begins both
days around 10:30 a.m. The antique snowmobile exhibit and parade will take place Sunday morning, as usual.
And new for this year: antique snowmobiles will be competing in both the drag races and radar runs!

We’ll be looking for volunteers to help us with set up for the Snowfest on Friday, January 27th, so drop on by
and lend a hand if you have a change. We’re also looking for volunteer bakers to donate finger food dessert
items such as cookies, brownies, and bars for sale at the food court on the ice. If you can, package them two
to a plastic baggie. We’ll have plastic baggies available at the food court, too. You may also drop them off at
Ken’s Yamaha on Main Street prior to the event. As we did last year, all food sales will be consolidated in one
area on the ice. There will be no food available at the School House. Rather, chowders, hamburgers,
cheeseburgers, soft drinks, hot coffee and cocoa, and dessert items will be available both days at the food
court, on the ice. So come on down and join us for the fun on the 28th and 29th!

We now have our GPS trail map available and, as mentioned last month, hand numbered trail signs! So trail
numbers and a laminated map will soon be posted at all trail entrances and intersections. We’re also planning to
make the trail map available at the Snowfest for a nominal donation (suggested donation is $3.00).

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 at the Norway Town Hall, beginning with pot luck
supper at 6:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there, and as a
reminder, if you haven’t already paid your 2011-2012 dues, please do so now, or bring your payment to the
Snowfest.

Best wishes for the New Year, and here’s to more snow (soon hopefully!) and some great riding in 2012.
