| We had our 4th meeting of the season on December 4th with 23 members attending. For those of you who missed the meeting, you missed a great pot luck supper. And on top of that, the table full of toys collected for the Toys for Kids drive was overflowing. Thank you to everyone who brought in a toy. It’s going to make a difference for a child in our area to have something to open on Christmas day.
Most of the business meeting of the club was devoted to discussing the upcoming Snowfest, our biggest annual fundraiser. We’re optimistic that the weather will cooperate this time and Norway Lake will be frozen over, unlike last year. You may remember that last year (winter 2012) we had to cancel the festival at the last minute because of uncertain ice thickness and safety concerns. So we’re planning for success this year. Stay tuned for more information, and please come to our next meeting if you can, to help us plan.
In other news, Stan Morse reported that a lot of work has been done on the trails, brushing and excavating, and Ed Smith said that new signs and posts have been placed around the country club. To date we have 40 family memberships and 9 businesses according to Jaime Mowatt. Brent Gammon has been looking into a new sound system for the Snowfest and has identified one at Radio Shack that will work well for us. The club previously approved purchasing a new sound system. We need a new scoring booth too, but we’ll use the one we have for now and discuss what to do about a new one after the Snowfest.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, January 8th 2013 at the Norway Town Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m. with pot luck supper followed by the business meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Best Wishes for the New Year.
